Module 25 - Chair Yoga for Parkinsons - 45mins

This module is designed to equip teachers with practical strategies for safely and effectively guiding Chair Yoga for participants living with Parkinson’s. You’ll explore the key symptoms that impact movement, coordination, and balance, and learn how to adapt sequences to support flexibility, range of motion, and confidence. The module covers gentle mobilisation, large expressive movements, coordination challenges, and when appropriate, standing balance work - all with seated alternatives to ensure accessibility and safety.

You’ll also gain guidance on handling the unique challenges Parkinson’s can bring to a class, including tremors, freezing, or changes in movement patterns, while maintaining dignity and autonomy for participants. The course includes practical tips for pacing, communication, and creating inclusive classes, plus a fun, rhythmic Chair Yoga dance sequence to encourage engagement, movement, and enjoyment for all participants.

Mikola Lee has loved dance and movement for as long as she can remember, starting ballet classes at age three and yoga classes at 5. Over the years she's enjoyed exploring many dance styles, and began teaching bellydance in 2027. There she discovered that she love helping adults grow in confidence, creativity, and self-expression through dance. Watching students develop body connections, creativity, and joy in movement is the most rewarding part of her work.

As her practice evolved, she expanded my teaching to include Dance for Parkinson’s, Chair Yoga, Adult Ballet and Dance Fit. Drawing from ballet, contemporary and creative dance, yoga, and Middle Eastern dance, she designs classes that are fun, accessible, and beneficial for all ages and abilities. A key focus is supporting functional movement, helping you to move with ease, stability, and comfort in everyday life.
