This elective module explores how to support and protect the shoulders in a chair yoga practice. You’ll learn the anatomy of the shoulder joint, why it is both highly mobile and often unstable, and some of the common causes of pain, tension and injury.
We look at how to work with the shoulders in a safe and supportive way, including key precautions, alignment considerations and how to balance mobility with strength and stability. You’ll also explore chair-based movements that can help improve function, reduce discomfort and build awareness in this area.
By the end of this module, you’ll have a deeper understanding of how to work with the shoulders thoughtfully, allowing you to guide your students with more clarity and care while supporting safe, functional movement.
