This elective module explores how to support and protect the lower back in a chair yoga practice. You’ll learn the basic structure of the spine, common causes of lower back discomfort, and how factors like posture, movement patterns and prolonged sitting can impact spinal health.
We look at how to safely adapt chair-based movements, including which poses to be mindful of and which can help create more space, stability and support in the body. There is also a focus on understanding core support and how it contributes to safe, effective movement.
By the end of this module, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how to work with the lower back in a thoughtful and informed way, allowing you to support your students with greater care and awareness.
